Wareham Gibbs 
Wareham was born on May 4th, 1734 in Litchfield, Connecticut.1 Wareham's father was Zebulon Gibbs and his mother was Eunice Woodruff. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Gibbs and Abigail Marshall; his maternal grandparents were Nathaniel Woodruff and Thankful Wright. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Zebulon, Eliakim, Aaron, Sylvia, Eunice and Ruth. He died about 1793 in Hebron, New York.1 General Notes

Captain Wareham Gibbs, of Litchfield, Connecticut, began his service in the War of the Revolution as a 1st Lt. in 8th Co. of Col. Hinman's
connecticut Troops (4th Regiment). The officers of this company were:
Captain John Sedgewick of Cornwall, 1st Lt. Wareham Gibbs of Litchfield, 2nd Lt. John Thompson of Litchfield, Ensign Matthew Pattterson of Cornwall. This regiment was raised on the first call for troops in April and May, 1775. Upon the surprise of Ticonderoga May 10, 1775, Gov. Trumbull ordered this regiment to march as soon as possible to secure that post and Crown Point against recapture. The regiment reached Ticonderoga in June. It took part in the operations in the expiration of its term of service in December 1775. Also in 1776 the Continental Assembly voted to raise 4 State Battallions to join the Continental Army near New York to serve until March 1777. These Battalions served under General Wooster on the Westchester border and under General Spencer in Rhode Island. Wareham Gibbs was 1st Lt. of one Company. In 1778 he commanded a company of Invasion in July 1779. Wareham Gibbs, ancestor, assisted in estahblishing American Independence, while acting in the capacity of soldier.

Wareham was the grandson of Capt. Benjamin Gibbs, original proprietor, Windson (Litchfield, Conn. Kilbourne, p.38.
Wareham's father was Zebulon Gibbs, b. 8/19/1711, Windsor, Conn., d. 1/8/1803, Litchfield, Conn. History of Litchfield, Conn. 1720-1920 by White, p. 43 says Zebulon Gibbs was nine years old when father, Benjamin, brought him to Litchfield in 1720. He died in 1803, age 92. His younger brother, Gershom Gibbs was the first male child born in Litchfield, Conn. Gershom Gibbs b. 7/28/1721, Litchfield, Conn., died in prison ship after having been taken prisoner at Fort Washington 12/19/1776 - White, p. 43.
There is a record of 10 children for Wareham, the last one was born in 1778, no record of Wareham's death. One of the chldren was Sheldon who had 8 children. One of these was Simon whose dughter, Charlotte, was my great-grandmother.
