Maria Augusta was born in 1805 in Falmouth, MA.1 Maria Augusta's father was Samuel Medan Dewey and her mother was Mercy Bacon Hallett. Her paternal grandparents were Benoni Dewey and Sabra Worthington. She had two brothers and a sister, named Samuel W., William James and Eliza Wait. She was the oldest of the four children.1 -
