James Allen 
James was born on April 1st, 1878 in Bickerstaffe,Lancs,Eng.1 James' father was John Allen and his mother was Elizabeth Battersby. His paternal grandparents were John Allen and Elizabeth Wainwright; his maternal grandparents were James Battersby and Jane Lilley. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, William, Richard, George, Emily Jane, Hannah, Ellen, Sarah and Sarah Lily. He was the third oldest of the ten children.1 -
