HISTORY OF TRIGG COUNTY
Chapter VI
David Randolph and his father settled near the mouth of Sinking Fork a few years later, where several of their descendants are still living.

Oakland Methodist Episcopal Church, in southern part of the precinct, was organized in 1859 by Rev. Dr. William Alexander. Among the original members were the following, to wit: David Randolph, Mahion Belford. Penina Belford, Thomas D. Malone, William Roberts, Nancy Roberts, Thomas Flood, Catherine Flood, J. J. Randolph, J. R. Randolph and T. J. Randolph. The first officers were: Daniel Randolph, Thomas D. Malone and William Roberts, Trustees, they acted as Stewards also ; Mahlon Belford, Class-leader. A house was built about the time the organization was effected on land donated by David Randolph, and is still used as a place of worship. The following pastors have ministered to the church since its organization: Dr. Alexander, John Randolph, Gideon Gooch, James Petrie, J. H. Redford, T. C. Peters, L. B. Davidson, J. R. Randolph, Thomas J. Richardson, W. C. Brandon, James .Brandon, J. Dowel1, Isaac Shelley and John Frayser. Pastor in charge at the present time is Rev. J. L. Reid. Present membership about twenty. The church officers are: J. J. Randolph, Steward and Class-leader, and Drury Sholar, Hawkins Meadow and J. J. Randolph, Trustees.

W.S. RANDOLPH, county judge, was born September 25, 1836, in Trigg County,
Ky.; his father, Alexander Randolph, was a native of North Carolina, born
in 1800. He was a descendant of the celebrated Randolph family of
Virginia, and died in Trigg County, Ky., January, 1865, at the age of
sixty-five years. Subject's mother, Malinda (Watkins) Randolph, was a
daughter of Samuel Watkins, who died in Trigg County at a very early day.
Mrs. Randolph departed this life on January 2, 1878, at the age of sixty-
five years. Mr. and Mrs. Randolph were the parents of eight children:
G.B. (deceased), W.S. (subject), M.J. (deceased), M.A. (deceased), E.S.
(deceased), D.W. (deceased), J.A. and T.L. W.S. Randolph remained under
the parental roof until the age of twenty years, when he entered Cadiz
High School, which he attended for three years; at the end of that time
he was engaged as assistant in said school under Prof. Q.M. Tyler, whom
he afterward succeeded as principal, serving in the latter position until
1869, at which time he was appointed assistant assessor of internal
revenue, and surveyor of distilleries for the First Congressional District,
filling both positions for a period of four years. He came to Caldwell
County in 1865, and in 1874 was elected county judge, which office he
holds at the present time, having been elected for three consecutive terms.
He was united in marriage, April 14, 1864, with Margaret A. Jenkins, of
Trigg County, Ky., step-daughter of Judge Collins D. Bradley. This union
has been blessed with eight children: M.M., F.F., W.B., E.T., Anna, Pocha,
May and Ethel. Mr. Randolph is a member of the I.O.O.F. and votes with
the Democratic party. He and wife are active members of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, of Princeton.

WILL OF CHARLOTTE ORR

I, Charlotte Orr, of the Borough of Sharpsville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

FIRST: I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as convenient after my decease.

SECOND: All the rest and residue of my estate whether real or personal, I give, devise and bequeath in equal parts to my son, William C. Cranford, Arthur Thomas Orr and Nellie May Wigant, both of whom have been raised by me since infancy.

THIRD: Should any of the above three persons die prior to my decease, I direct that the share to which he or she might have been entitled under this will, shall be divided equally among the children of the one so deceased, and in that event, should the said Arthur Thomas Orr be still living, I nominate, constitute and appoint him Guardian for the said minor children, with full power and authority to invest and reinvest any funds that may come into his hands as such Guardian, with power and authority also to sell and convey any part or all of the real estate of which I may die seized, either at public or private sale, to such person or persons, for such price and upon such terms as he may think best, he to execute and deliver good and sufficient deed or deeds therefore, and all other papers necessary, without order of Court; and I direct that he be permitted to serve without bond.

FOURTH: I nominate, constitute and appoint my son, William C. Cranford, to be the Executor of this my Will and direct that he be permitted to serve without bond. He shall have full power and authority to sell and convey any part or all of my real or personal property to such person or persons, for such price and upon such terms as he may think best, at public or private sale, executing and delivering a good and sufficient deed or deeds and all other papers that may be necessary in the premises, without order of Court.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-ninth day of June August, A. D. 1930.
