Edward Hays Brooks, resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, died January 25, 2003, at the age of 74. Hays was the son of Eva Orr Brooks and Elvin Russell Brooks from Lyon County, Kentucky. Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Barbara Jean Brooks of Las Vegas, two sons, Dwyte Edward and Gerald Hays Brooks of Las Vegas, two daughters, Roberta Suzanne Brooks of Baltimore, MD, and Heather Joy Eikenberry of Odenton, MD, 4 grandchildren, Edward, Rebecca, Patrick and Barbara, 2 future great-grandchildren, and Sid Vicious, their miniature dachshund great-grandpuppy.
Hays was born in Star Lime Works, KY. He graduated from Grand Rivers High School in Grand Rivers, KY, in 1946 and received his Bachelor of Science from Murray State University in 1951. He had a diverse career which included operating a radio station’s equipment in Murray and Lexington, KY, Professor of Physics at Murray State University, Nuclear Physicist for the General Electric Corp in Cincinnati, Ohio, Engineer for Westinghouse Astronuclear Laboratories in both Waltz Mills, PA, and Jackass Flats, NV, Engineer for Westinghouse Oceanic Division, Annapolis, MD, and a Consulting Scientist for Northrop Grumman Corp in Annapolis, MD. During retirement, he continued to do part time work for H&R Block. Hays had many personal hobbies and interests including extensive genealogy research of the Brooks family history, international traveling, bluegrass music, professional wrestling, and storytelling.
There will be a service at The Palm Funeral Home of Las Vegas, NV, on Friday afternoon, January 31, 2003. The telephone number is (702) 464-8420. Following the service, a wake will be held at the family home. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, tax-deductible donations be made to the Paradise Cemetery Maintenance Fund, c/o Mary Forsythe, 277 Hill Road, Grand Rivers, KY, 42045.

Edward Brooks
Edward H. Brooks, 74, died Saturday in Ensenada, Mexico.
He was born Jan. 19, 1929, in Lyon County, Ky. A retired nuclear physicist for the government, he was a 16-year resident of Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; and sons, Marvin Morell, Dwyte and Gerald, all of Las Vegas; daughters, Heather Eikenberry of Odenton, Md., and Roberta of Baltimore; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildre
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.
