Mathilda (Maud) was born in 1059 in Of, Apulia (Puglia), Calabria, Italy.1 Mathilda (Maud)'s father was Robert I "Guiscard" von Hauteville and her mother was Sigelgaita Prinzessin von Salerno. Her paternal grandparents were Tancreed von Hauteville and Mrs-Tancred von Hauteville. She had a half-brother named Boemond I Prince. She died at the age of 24 in 1083.1
