Mainer was born about 1027 in Montfort Amaury, Ile De France, France.1   Mainer's father was Amauri (Amaury) Seigneur von Montfort and his mother was Bertrade De Gometz.  His paternal grandfather was William von Hainault; his maternal grandfather was Guillaume De Gometz. He had a brother and a sister, named Simon I Seigneur and Eve.  He was the youngest of the three children.1
