Josiah was born on August 18th, 1828. Josiah's father is Job Southwick and his mother is Sophia Smith. His paternal grandparents were George Southwick and Lydia Sargent. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Richard, Wheeler Branch, Edmond Z., Job, Pheobe, Priscilla and Sophia. He is the third youngest of the eight children.-
