Emily was born on October 6th, 1847 in Cornish, Maine. Emily's father was Smith Cobb Sargent and her mother is Susan H. Davis. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Sargent and Dorcas Wescott. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Edwin, Ira, Frank Pierce, Albion, Charlie, Clara and Mary L.. She is the second oldest of the eight children.-
