Her paternal grandparents were Shadrack Roundy and Betsey Quimby. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Jared Curtis, Shadrach Jenne, George Snyder, Franklin Spencer, Evalyn Aurelia Lovisa, Sarah Lovisa, Ida May and Roseanna Annie. She was the youngest of the nine children. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named William Alfred, Curtis Lorenzo, Julia, Clara, Nell and Lucy Jane.
