Lela Ruth's father was Clare Victor Pierce and her mother was Estella Winifred Blood. Her paternal grandparents were William Wright Pierce and Almyra Jerusha Wilcox. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Norman Blood, Clare William, Alice Ardelia, Fern Olive, Lois Marie and Betty Jean.-
