Rufus R. was born on August 13th, 1831 in Hooksett, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Rufus R.'s father was Sewell Hazleton and his mother was Sarah Sargent Alexander. His maternal grandparents were Enoch Alexander and Mariam Colby. He had a sister named Sarah M.. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 32 on September 4th, 1863 in Nicholsville, Jessamine County, Kentucky.-
