Fredrick E. was born on April 26th, 1845 in St. Thomas, Elgin, Ontario, Canada. Fredrick E.'s father was Philander Colby and his mother was Rachel Ferguson. His paternal grandfather was David Colby and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Farrington. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William, Lorenzo W., Cyrus, George Wellington, Experience, Charlotte, Sarah Jane and Mary. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 40 on July 10th, 1885.-
