Philip was born about 1268 in Biggar, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Philip's father was William Keith and his mother is Barbara Seton. His paternal grandfather was John De Keith and his paternal grandmother is Margaret Comyn; his maternal grandfather was Adam De Seton and his maternal grandmother is Jane Gifford.
