John was born in 1618 in Auchinames, Ayr, Scotland.1 John's father was Patrick 12th Laird of Auchinames Crauford and his mother was Jane Crauford. His paternal grandparents were William 11th Laird of Auchinames Crauford and Margaret Houston; his maternal grandparents were James Crawford and Elizabeth Cunningham. He was an only child. He died about 1693 in Middleton, Monmouth, New Jersey. He was buried in Buried on His Farm in Nutswamp, Middleton, Monmouth, New Jersey.1 General Notes
