Alexander was born about 1329 in Crawford, Clydesdale, Lanarkshire, Scotland.  Alexander's father was David Lindsay and his mother was Mary Maria Abernathy.  His paternal grandparents were Alexander De Lindsay and Alice Stewart; his maternal grandfather was Alexander Abernathy. He had two brothers named William and James. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named George, Walter, Norman, John and Margaret.  He died in October 1381 in Candia, Crete.

‌Alexander and Catherine were married in a religious ceremony about 1358.  They had a son and a daughter, named David and Eupheme.


Alexander's second family with Marjory Stewart

‌Alexander and Marjory were married in a religious ceremony before 1360 in Ralston, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
