William Griffith 
William was born in Penrhyn, North Wales. William's father was William Griffith and his mother was Jane Stradling. His paternal grandparents were William Griffith and Joan Troutbeck; his maternal grandparents were Thomas of St. Donat's Castle and Jane Mathew. He was an only child. He died about 1560.General Notes
Mary Owen's mother was Isabel (1530c-1580c), the daughter of Sir William Griffith (1510c-1560c) of Penrhyn. The Griffith's of Penrhyn were one of the most powerful families in North Wales at the time and were a branch of the Tudor family descended from Ednyfed Fychan (d. 1246) and the Welch royal and princely house, including Rhodri Mawr (Rhodri the Great) (d. 878) and Cadwaladr the Blessed (d. 688).
Sir William Griffith's parents were Sir William Griffith (c1475-1531) and his 2nd wife Jane Stradling (d/o Thomas of St. Donat's Castle (now the world famous Atlantic College), Glamorgan and Jane Mathew). His grandparents were Sir William Griffith (c1445-c1505), and Joan Thoutbeck, Lord of Penrhyn Castle; Chamberlain of North Wales, who fought at Bosworth (1485) for Henry VII, his cousin. His great grandparents were Sir William Fychan ap Gwillym (1420-1483) and Alice Dalton, who was also Chamberlain of North Wales.
