Bodegisel II 'Dux,' appears to have been Governor of Aquitaine and was murdered at Carthage returning from an embassy at Constatinople.

It has been suggested that Bodegisil's father may have been a brother (name unknown) of Bodegisil (I) because it was quite rare among the Franks to give a son the same name as his father. However, this would not change the lineage as Bodegisil's mother would still be Palatina, daughter of Gallus Magnus and his grandfather would still be Murideric.
