His paternal grandfather was Ferreolus Tonantius II and his paternal grandmother is Deutaria(Dode); his maternal grandfather was King of Franks Clothar (The Old) I and his maternal grandmother is Ingonde *. He had two brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Ferreolus, Erchinoald(Erchenaud), Gertrudis, Tarsicia and Modericus. He was the third oldest of the six children.
