Nicolas was born on October 12th, 1769 in Warschawa, Warschawa, , Poland. Nicolas' father was Roland Heinrich Knosalla and his mother was Josefine Maria Schutz. His paternal grandparents were Helmut Roland Knosalla and Hedwig Pospieck; his maternal grandparents are Hans Schutz and Josephine Esholz. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Johann Wilhelm, Peter Heinrich, Johann Friedrich, Johannes, Gertrud Maria, Maria Franziska and Catharina Elisabeth. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 71 on February 7th, 1841 in Katowice, Katowice, , Poland.-
