Susan was born about 1488 in Shefford, Berkshire, England. Susan's father was Richard Fettiplace and her mother was Elizabeth Bessiles. Her paternal grandfather was John Fettiplace and her paternal grandmother is Jane Fabian; her maternal grandparents were William Bessiles and Alice Harcourt. She had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Anthony, Thomas, Edward, Dorothy, Jane, Mary, Elizabeth, Anne and Eleanor. She is the fourth oldest of the eleven children.General Notes
