Charity was born in 1746. Charity's father was Williams Robbins and her mother was Mary Wells Battle. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Robbins and Sarah Maddox; her maternal grandparents were William Battle and Sarah Hunter. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Arthur, William, Jethro, Thomas, John, Luraney, Millicent, Margaret and Elizabeth.-
