Richard was born in 1080 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.1 Richard's father was William Talbot and his mother was Basita Flaitel. His paternal grandfather was Hugh De Taleboth Bishop; his maternal grandparents were Gerard Flaitel and D Evereux. He had five brothers named Richard, William, Geoffrey, Goffrey and Richard. He was the youngest of the six children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Gerard, Gerold, Baron Robert, Hugh, Basilie and Adelaide.-
