Her paternal grandparents were William Comyn and Margaret Heiress; her maternal grandparents were Roger De Quincy and Helen De Galloway. She had four brothers and nine sisters, named Alexander, John, Roger, Alexander, Annora, Egidia, Emma, Elena, Marjorie, Bridget, Agnes, Margaret and Catherine.
