Benjamin was born in 1829 and his baptism took place in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. Benjamin's father was Thomas Osguthorpe and his mother was Ann KITSON. His paternal grandparents were John Osguthorpe and Betty ASHMORE; his maternal grandparents are John KITSON and Elizabeth Tetley.
