Richard was born about 1365 in Kinderton, Cheshire, England. Richard's father was Hugh De Venables and his mother is Margery Cotton. His paternal grandfather was Hugh De Venables Knight and his paternal grandmother is Katherine De Houghton 2 wife; his maternal grandfather is Hugh Cotton. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, William, Eva, Margery and Angella (Anyll). He was the oldest of the six children. He had a half-sister named Margaret. He died in 1403.-
