Ellen Alice was born about 1304 in Kinderton. Ellen Alice's father was Hugh De Venables and her mother is Agatha Vernon. Her paternal grandfather was William De Venables and her paternal grandmother is Margaret Dutton; her maternal grandparents were Ralph Baron de Shipbrook de Vernon and Mary Dacre. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Hugh De, William, Elizabeth, Isabella and Katherine. She is the second youngest of the six children.-
