Jan Martense was born in 1631 in Amersfoort,Utrecht,,Holland. Jan Martense's father is Marten Schenck van Nydeck and his mother is Maria de Brockhurst. His paternal grandparents are Peter Schenck van Nydeck General and Johanna van Scherpenzeel. He had a brother and a sister, named Roelof Martinse and Annetje.
