Maud Le Bigod 
Maud was born about 1068 in Belvior Castle, Leicestershire, England.1 Maud's father was Roger de Maltot Bigod Seigneur and her mother was Alice Adeliza De Toeni. Her paternal grandparents were Robert The Younger Bigod and Adeliza de Grentmesnil; her maternal grandparents were Robert de Toeni Castellan of Stafford and Adela Adeliza Osule de Savona. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Hervey Fitz Bagod, William, Hugh, Cecily, Jane and Gunnora. She died about 1129. She was buried in Wymondham Abbey,Wymondham,Norfolk,England.General Notes

It is recorded that in 1832 or 1833 workmen levelling the site at Wymondham Abbey uncovered a lead coffin with another, very small, beside it. The first was found to contain the well-preserved remains of a young woman who had died in childbirth, and the little one her child. The woman, afterwards reburied with her baby in the present church, was thought to be Maud Bigod, wife of the founder, William de Albini I. One is poignantly reminded of his charter, copied into the cartulary of Wymondham where it survives, drawn up on the occasion of her death in the days before charters had become dry legal documents in set form, reciting how he had assisted at her funeral, 'weeping and bewailing,' and had given to the monks on that occasion the manor of Happisburgh in Norfolk for the safety of her soul and of his own. Seems to have been the daughter of Roger Bigod's 2nd wife, for her mother was present at her funeral (Dugdale, op. cit., vol. iii, pp. 330-1). This view may be supported by the fact that her marriage did not take place until after her father's death, for the King gaver her on her marriage 10 knights' fees from the land of Roger Bigot (Red Book of the exchequer, Rolls Ser., p. 397; Round, Rot. de Dominabus, p. xlii, is clearly wrong in writing that they were granted to her by Roger Bigot)..."
Miss Ethel Stokes, in the essay on "Mowbray" in The Complete Peerage, ix, says, p. 367: "He [William d'Aubigny Pincerna] m. Maud, dau. of Roger le Bigod, by his 2nd wife, Alice dau. of Robert de Tosny, lord of Belvoir..." [UTZ@aol.com]

William Stronghand was born in 1106 in St. Sauveur, Manche, Normandy, France.1 He died at the age of 70 on October 12th, 1176 in Waverly Abbey, Surrey, England. He was buried on October 19th, 1176 in Wymondham Priory, Norfolk, England.1
