Major John Given 
John was born in 1719 in County Antrim, Ireland. John's father is Samuel Given II and his mother was Sarah Cathay. His paternal grandfather was Samuel Given I. He was an only child. He died at the age of 71 on November 19th, 1790 in Augusta Co Va.General Notes

Served under his Uncle, Gen. Andrew Lewis
John was a Captain of Militia under his brother in law, General Andrew Lewis in the battle of Point Pleasant and he served with the Augusta Militia during the Revolution.
John and Mary Margaret were married in a religious ceremony in 1745. They had a son named William.

William was born on March 21st, 1746 in Augusta County, Virginia. He died at the age of 47 on September 27th, 1793 in Bath County, Virginia. He was buried in Given Cemetery.
