Isaac was born on June 7th, 1775 in , Botetourt, VA. Isaac's father was Thomas NEWMAN and his mother is Mary COCKRANE. His paternal grandparents were Jonathan NEWMAN and Martha HAWKINS. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Jonathan, Thomas, George, Jacob, John, Nancy Ann, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah OR Sallie, Lydia and Rachel. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 87 on September 14th, 1862 in , Muhlenberg, Kentucky.-
