Hustead Brownfield was born on August 17th, 1877 in Fairmont, Marion County, West Virginia. Hustead Brownfield's father was Benjamin Franklin Shaver and his mother was Frances Helen Holbert. His paternal grandparents were William Shaver and Josina Hill; his maternal grandparents are Samuel Holbert and Sarah Kingrey. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William Isaac, Thomas Russell, Coradelphia and Rose Holbert. He was the second youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 86 on January 18th, 1964 in Elkins, Randolph County, West Virginia.-
