William M. McDowell 
William M. was born on March 19th, 1762 in Rockbridge County, Virginia. William M.'s father was Samuel Woods McDowell and his mother was Mary McClung. His paternal grandparents were John McDowell and Magdalen Woods; his maternal grandparents were William McClung and Elizabeth Alexander. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, Samuel, John, James, Joseph, Ephraim, Caleb Wallace, Martha, Magdalen, Sarah and Mary. He was the fifth youngest of the twelve children. He died after 1808 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was buried in Bowling Green, Kentucky.General Notes

"Historic Families of Kentucky" published in 1839 lists his birth on
March 9 not March 19. This book also does not mention his youngest
children, but lists Eliza as the youngest child.
