Joseph was born on April 24th, 1627 in Rocky Nook, Kingston, Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts. Joseph's father was John Howland and his mother was Elizabeth Tilley. His paternal grandparents were Henry Howland and Ann Margaret Aires; his maternal grandparents were John Tilley and Elizabeth Carver. He had three brothers and six sisters, named John, Jabez, Isaac, Hannah, Desire, Hope, Elizabeth, Lydia and Ruth. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He died in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts.General Notes
