Kari Johannesdatter was born before 1690 in Hausa, Sogndal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. Kari Johannesdatter's father was Johannes Hausa and her mother was Mari Sjursdatter Hausa. She had six brothers named Sjur Johannesson Hausa, Elling Johannesson, Ingebrikt Johannesson, Johannes Johannesson, Trond Johannesson and Anders Johannesson. She is the third youngest of the seven children.
