John G. Harding 
John G. was born in 1827. John G.'s father was William Harding and his mother was Aretta Monk. His maternal grandfather was John Monk. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Samuel, George William, James S., Rachel A. Monk and Sarah Frances Monk. He was the oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named Abner. He died after 1869.
John G. and Amanda M. were married in a religious ceremony on October 11th, 1855 in Russell County, Virginia.1 They had a daughter named Josephine Alice.

Josephine Alice was born on November 8th, 1869 in Leatherwood, West Virginia. She died at the age of 87 on April 13th, 1957 in Elkview, West Virginia. She was buried in Shafer Cemetery.
