Peachy was born about 1798 in Pendleton County, West Virginia. Peachy's father was James Dyer and his mother is Nancy Hall. His paternal grandparents were Roger Sr. Dyer and Hannah Smith. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Infant Son, Son, Parkham, Elizabeth and Jane. He had nine half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Benjamin, Reuben, William B., John D., James Jr., Zebulon, Roger, Matthew, Reuben, Hannah, Hester, Elizabeth, Phoebe, Hester and Hannah.
