His paternal grandfather was Marwan I Ibn Al-Hakam of Damascus and his paternal grandmother is A'isha bint Mu'awiya Ibn Al-Mughira. He had three brothers named Al-Walid I of, Yazid II of and UNKNOWN. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died in 0743 in Year Hijra 124.-
