Ioannes (John) II Komnenos of was born in 1087. Ioannes (John) II Komnenos of's father was Alexius I Comnenus of Byzantium. His paternal grandparents were Isaac I Ioannes (John) Komnenos of Byzantium and Ekaterina of Bulgaria. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Andronicus Comnenus, John II Comnenus of, Anna Comnena of and Theodora Comnena of. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 56 in 1143.-
