Thomas II was born about 1156 in Hedington, Oxfordshire, England. Thomas II's father was Thomas Basset and his mother was Adeliza de Dunstanville. His paternal grandparents were Gilbert Basset and Edith d'Oilly; his maternal grandparents were Alan Reginald de Dunstanville and Emma de Langetot. He had two brothers and a sister, named Gilbert, Alan and Isabel. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died in 1220.-
