Frank Snead Paris 
Frank Snead was born on December 24th, 1892.1 Frank Snead's father was William Benjamin Paris and his mother was Mary Lucy Brown. His paternal grandparents are Thomas Elijah Paris and Ellen Letitia Franklin. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Willie Howard, Rawley Elijah, Woodrow Wilson, Evelyn May and Ellen Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 25 on September 27th, 1918 in Ronssoy, Somme, France. He was buried on March 31st, 1921 in buried @@ Riverview Cemetery, Richmond, VA.1 1 General Notes

Frank Paris was a Lieutenant in the 27th Division, Headquarters Tr
oo p, of the US Expeditionary Force during World War I. He was kill
ed in act ion 27 September 1918 near Ronssoy, Somme, France, along the Hin
denburg Li ne. The Germans were shelling the road that ran in front of t
he 27th Divi sion's Headquarters and Lt. Paris, a Cpt. Bryant and two enli
sted men we re killed. There is an excellent photograph of Australian tro
ops repairi ng the road where the four men were killed shortly afterward
s. This pho to is in "The Pictorial History of the 27th Division", compil
ed by Alexand er Starlight and published in May 1919. There is another ph
oto 42 pages a fter this one that most likely identifies the two enlist
ed men killed as P vt. W. J. Bonk and Pvt. R. L. Beaver. They were interr
ed, most likely alo ng with Lt. Paris, in the U.S. plot at St.-Emilie Ceme
tery, France. Lt. P aris' remains were transferred home and reinterr
ed on 31 March 1921 in t he family plot at Riverview Cemetery, Richmond, V
