Martha Elizabeth was born in April 1892 in Coryell, Co., Texas.1 Martha Elizabeth's father was William Franklin Manning and her mother was Phebe Olivia Powell. Her paternal grandparents were James Duncan Manning and Martha Jane Graham. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Marion Monroe, William Cole, Mamie Mae, Mattie Lee and Carrie Nation.
