William McKinley Dewitt was born on November 15th, 1896 in Marion Co., Tennessee.1 William McKinley Dewitt's father was Robert Hinegar Basham and his mother was Louiza M (Eliza) Boston. His paternal grandparents were Martin Basham and Judith A. Richmond. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Fred A. H., Thomas Kirksey, Robert G., Frank, Annie E. and Essie.
