Henry's father was Conrad Oberdorf. His paternal grandfather was Johannes Valentine Oberdorf and his paternal grandmother is Agnes Elizabeth Remley. He has three brothers and four sisters, named James P., John, William, Elizabeth, Margaret, Polly and Sarah.
