Betty Mae was born on September 1st, 1924 in Slab Creek,WV. Betty Mae's father was Nile Bayne and her mother was Bessie Folsom Bee. Her paternal grandparents were Grafton Jay Bayne and Harriet Adeline Conaway. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Edward Jay, Elden, Freda Lorraine, Mary Elizabeth, Kathleen Elaine, Georgia Iris, Ruth Marie and Peggy Lee. She is the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
