PETER W. PETRY TAKEN BY DEATH
Employe of Selby Firm 46 Years Dies After Operation
Peter William PETRY, 62, 1626 Dewey avenue, lifelong resident of Portsmouth and an employe of the Selby Shoe Co. for 46 years died at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday in Mercy hospital. On March 23, Mr. PETRY entered Mt. Carmel hospital, Columbus, where he underwent a major operation. He returned home on April 2 and suffered a relapse a few days latter. He was removed to Mercy hospital Tuesday.
Mr. PETRY was born in Portsmouth on March 13, 1874, and was a son of Peter and Mary BOURGHOLTZER PETRY who came to this country in 1860 from Germany. He was married on Oct. 2, 1900, to Ida RUHLMAN. Mr. PETRY had been employed by the Selby Shoe Co. for 46 years and was an edge setter at the factory.
He was a lilfelong and faithful member of St. Mary's church and of the Knights of St. George.
Surviving are his wife and two children, Paul Gerald and Mrs. Amelia CORRIELL of Portsmouth. He also leaves a sister and brother, Mrs. Edward MOHR and Edward J. PETRY and three grandchildren. Asister and two brothers, Angela, William and John, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, the arrangments not being completed because of Holy week. Burial will be under the direction of Lynn's. The body will be at the residence late today.
