r.  H e was knight of the shire for Lincolnshire.  He and h
is wife wer e buried in a white alabaster tomb.  He was a l
ifelong Roman Cat holic. Under Queen Elizabeth he was adjud
ged a "hinderer of tru e religion."  He and his children we
re harried for recusancy.  H e was imprisoned in the Fleet
, where in September, 1580, he wa s allowed his wife's comp
any, and access to the gardens for hi s health.
