John MARTIN, Yeoman of North Littleton, Worcestershire. H
e married Margaret in 1609. He died on the 8th Feb 1628 a
t Littleton and was buried at Middle Littleton. In the wil
l of John Martin (Yeoman) of North Littleton (Worcs.115/162
9) of 23rd.November 1628, he mentions his only son, John, w
ho is under 21 years of age and two daughters, Mary and Ann
e, both under 18 at the time of the will. .He also mention
s Thomas, the son of his brother William, and his kinswome
n Elizabeth Harward (in some wills spelt Harwood) and Ann
e Martin. Finally, he mentions a kinsman, Thomas Tayler, hi
s wife Margaret, brothers-in-law Robert Barry and John Hand
y and also Edward Harward. In the parish register of Nort
h and Middle Littleton, an entry dated 8th.February 1628 re
cords the burial of a John Martin and, in the same year, th
e marriage of Edward Harward and Elizabeth Martin, on 17th.
June. It seems certain that this Elizabeth was the daughte
r of Thomas Martin who died in 1607. If this is so, then El
izabeth was probably aged about 23 at the time of her marri
age.
