Gervais was born about 1244 in Trenowyth, Cornwall.1 Gervais' father was Roger CARMYNOW and her mother was Sarah HORNACOTE. Her paternal grandfather was Robert CARMYNOWE; her maternal grandfather was Gervais HORNACOTE. She had two brothers and a sister, named Roger, John and Maud.
