Alexander YOUNG 
Alexander was born in 1754 in NORTH CAROLINA. Alexander's father was Samuel YOUNG and his mother was Margaret MCKNIGHT. His maternal grandparents were William MCKNIGHT and Jane MORTON. He was an only child. He died at the age of 52 in 1806 in ROWAN CO., NORTH CAROLINA.General Notes
In April, 1751, a land warrant was made in Anson County by Samuel Young. Samuel is buried in the cemetery of the Third Creek Presbyterian Church. Before 1751, he married Margaret McKnight of West Caln Township, Chester County. His tombstone reads:

I have found Samuel Young paying taxes in Rowan County in 1759 and again in Surry County in 1782. Near Highway 49, there is a monument dedicated to Jane Parks McDowell. She was a Revolutionary War heroine from Mecklenburg County. She lived where the monument stands today with her husband, John, and her children. Jane is the grandaughter of Samuel Young of Rowan County.
John Harvey asked the people of NC to send delegates to the First Provincial Congress in August 1774. The people of Rowan County chose Samuel Young. I could go on and on !! I have more info if you need it. Also there is a book dedicated to him, published in 1958. "In Freedom's Cause" by John K Fleming.
